This year Halloween is much more than just a day at our house. We've been celebrating Halloween all week. It started on Thursday with Owen's preschool class party. Tyson, Kate and I went to his school to watch his class parade through the primary school.
Owen chose to be Iron Man this year despite my efforts to have him coordinate with Kate's princess costume. He passed up being a knight, a prince and even a frog once he saw the Iron Man costume at Target. My brother would be so proud! He's the one who introduced Owen to Iron Man by gifting him with several Iron Man action figures.
Kate is our little pink princess wearing a petticoat dress from Grandmom. We are saving her princess costume for Halloween night when we will trick or treat in our neighborhood. She has a backup costume from our friend Cole who outgrew it before he could wear it this year. It's a chicken costume that she looks adorable in. She learned to say "bock bock" for her chicken debut last night at HallowZooEen.
We met our friends Amy, Jeremy, Logan and Landry at the Tulsa Zoo to trick or treat on Friday night. Logan was a magician and Landry was a white rabbit. So cute! Owen had such fun with Logan trick or treating, playing in the funhouse, going through the haunted house (not super scary), and venturing through the hay maze. You could tell that he thought he was a big boy getting to follow Logan, who is 5, around all night. Landry and Kate were very patient and for the most part quiet. They happily rode in their strollers the entire time. Kate only made noise when she was asked what a chicken says. She seemed very comfortable to stay in her stroller, so we were happy to oblige her! The kids were both sound asleep when we got home.

Tonight (Saturday) we met our class from church for a bonfire, cookout, trunk or treat and hayride. We met at a ranch near Haskell and had a fun time. The kids wore their skeleton pjs from Grandmother as their costumes. With the hay and brush we opted to not have them wear their other costumes. Owen had his first bonfire-roasted hot dog and smores and he really enjoyed them. Kate actually passed up both dinner and smores and was much more interested in the owners border collie. She wrestled me the entire meal because she wanted to pet and feed the dog her food. On the hayride the kids enjoyed seeing all the stars that we can't see in town. Kate sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Owen kept asking where Jupiter was. It was a fun night. They both fell asleep on the way home again. Bedtime has been easy the past 2 nights!

Tomorrow night, on Halloween, we are having some friends over for playtime, pizza and trick or treating in our neighborhood. More pics to come!

Seriously...isn't it crazy how many different times you end up celebrating Halloween once you have kids! It is fun but exhausting!!! So sorry we can't be in two places at once so we could celebrate with you guys tonight! :(
