Owen's spring break from school was the week of March 14-18. He only goes to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so it didn't feel all that much like a "break" for us. I know that one day soon he'll be going to school every day and spring break will be a bigger deal at our house. Still it was nice to have him home those two days that he'd normally be in school. We had a fun week of no schedules or routines and even had some visitors for a few days.
Our friend Lindsay and her daughter Kimberlyn (5 years old) came to visit from Tuesday to Friday as it was Kimberlyn's spring break in Texas as well. Last year the Bruehl family came to visit and the kids got along very well. Earlier this month Lindsay called to tell me that Kimberlyn had mentioned wanting to see Owen so we made a plan for them to come during spring break. Kimberlyn has a 2 year old brother, Blake, who was potty training at the time so he stayed home with his daddy, Jake.
The kids had a great time playing and Lindsay and I enjoyed catching up. We went to a playground, took a walk while Kimber and Owen rode their bikes, and played lots of board games (Owen's favorite thing to do right now). It was a low-key, fun week. All good things must come to an end, however, and our week ended with a doctor visit on Friday where we learned that Owen and Kate had their first case of strep throat. They even shared it with Kimberlyn who came down with it the following week. Thankfully the antibiotics kicked in fast and all the kiddos were back to their usual fun selves within a few days. Thanks Lindsay and Kimber for coming to visit. Sorry about the whole strep-throat souvenir thing!
